Accessibility statement
What we have built for, where we know we fall short, and how to tell us about a barrier.

Commitment
People with disabilities are this site’s primary audience. A site about disability rights that is difficult to use would be an embarrassing failure, so accessibility is treated as a functional requirement rather than a compliance exercise. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.
What is in place
- Semantic HTML with one heading hierarchy per page, landmark regions and a skip-to-content link.
- Visible keyboard focus on every interactive element, and full keyboard operation of the navigation, tab panels and accordions.
- ARIA used where it is needed and not where it is not: tab panels expose selection state, the mobile menu button exposes its expanded state, form fields have real labels.
- Color contrast checked against WCAG AA for body text, headings and interface text. Color is never the only way information is conveyed; the yes and no answers in our coverage panel are also words.
- Animation respects
prefers-reduced-motionand is disabled entirely when you ask your system for less. - Text reflows to 320 pixels and remains usable at 200 percent zoom.
- Every meaningful image has a text alternative; decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
- A print stylesheet, because people print letters and guides to take to a landlord.
Known gaps
[Be specific and honest. Third-party components are the usual weak point: name your telehealth platform, scheduling widget and payment processor, and state what you know about their accessibility and what you are doing about it. List any PDF that is not yet tagged. An accessibility statement that claims perfection is not credible.]
Other ways to reach us
If any part of this site or the intake process is a barrier, you do not have to fight it. Call contact@texasemotionalsupportanimalletter.org during business hours and a coordinator will take your intake over the phone, or email contact@texasemotionalsupportanimalletter.org. We can provide the letter and guides in large print or plain text on request.
Report a barrier
Email contact@texasemotionalsupportanimalletter.org with the page and what happened, including your assistive technology and browser if you know them. We aim to acknowledge within [2] business days and to fix blocking issues first.
Assessment
[State how conformance was evaluated, by whom, and when: self-assessment, automated testing tool, or third-party audit. Give the date. Update it when you retest.] Last reviewed July 30, 2026.
